Created to mark the 5th anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster.
The 3.5-meter-high sculpture consists of 9,168 matchboxes containing a total of 293,368 matches - one match for every pound saved by switching to cheaper, more flammable aluminium cladding. The artwork is designed to be too dangerous to exhibit to the public without a fire warden present.
The piece encourages the viewer to ask themselves why, if their safety in this space is assured, why were those in Grenfell Tower not afforded the same consideration?
